The history of Villa Pauletta.

The restoration of Villa Pauletta was a labor of love spanning six years, from 2012 to 2018. In a true testament to family tradition, the vast majority of the work was meticulously handcrafted by the owner and his father. Upon completion, the villa was named in honor of the owner's daughter, Paula. Rooted in Latin, the name Pauletta translates to 'Little Paula,' reflecting the intimacy and personal devotion woven into every stone of the home

The Restoration

Villa Pauletta is more than a place to stay—it’s a labor of love.

Between 2012 and 2018, family carefully transformed this historic space from four bare stone walls into the luxury retreat it is today. Every detail tells a story. The owner rebuilt the roof, laid new floors, and meticulously restored the original century-old stone, revealing the timeless beauty hidden beneath years of history.

All of the work was completed by hand by the owner and his father, combining generations of craftsmanship with the comfort and elegance of a five-star stay. Their dedication preserved the soul of this remarkable building while creating a space where guests can experience the authentic charm of old Split without compromising on modern luxury.

6 Years In The Making

At Villa Pauletta, every detail has a story to tell.

During the restoration, we uncovered a remarkable family treasure—a magnificent 200-year-old carpenter’s workbench that once belonged to the owner’s great-grandfather. Carefully preserved, it now serves as our dining table, becoming the heart of the home and a lasting symbol of our family’s heritage.

Throughout the villa, thoughtful design meets timeless history. The signature gray-blue shutters and ceiling beams were inspired by countless walks through the charming stone streets of Veli Varoš, capturing the colors and character of old Split. Beneath the staircase, an antique chair pays tribute to the home’s previous owner, preserving a small but meaningful piece of its past.

And for those who wish to become part of Villa Pauletta’s story, a beautifully preserved 1926 vintage typewriter awaits. Instead of simply leaving a review, our guests are invited to type their thoughts, creating a lasting memory and adding a new chapter to the villa’s continuing history.

At Villa Pauletta, history isn’t just preserved—it’s lived, shared, and passed on from one guest to the next.
