The house was used as a wine cellar until the early 19th century. It was built in the old part of the city, which could be reached by Ancient wooden cart and horses. At that time, the vineyards were only 200 meters away from the house. The town was divided depending of the local’s occupations. Fishermen were located in the area of ​​Matejuška, by the sea, and carpenters in the central part of Varoš. Nowadays at Villa Pauletta, traces can be seen under the stone arch entrance, from a wooden cart that would go in and bring the grapes.

At the beginning of the renovation in 2012 the house had been reduced to the bare four walls. The ground floor required all new flooring. The roof was completely replaced along with sand blasting and grouting a century-old stone space leaving a high-quality rustic base with modern decorative elements and vintage details.

The restoration of Villa Pauletta lasted from 2012 to 2018. The great majority of renovations were done by the owner and his father, who hand-crafted their own family tradition.

While the renovation of our dream house was underway we found a massive carpenter table, a 200-year-old item inherited from my great-grandfather who was carpenter. The dining table an inseparable element of aesthetic as well as the family’s story of Villa Pauletta.

Everything in the house is carefully planned. The light colour of gray-blue shutters, on the ceiling beams, is the result of long walks to Veli Varoš  and other parts of the old city and has its own story.

An antique chair that catches attention below the stairs is a memory of the previous owner. The old typewriter from 1926′ is an integral part of the decoration of space and offers an option for guests to write the reviews.

Rich history has been preserved in a hundred square meters of this Varos beauty, which thanks to a six-year-long family owned restoration.

The house has a special energy, it always had it. And when she was so dilapidated and old, she had a special charm. Now that we have restored her, it is as if we have breathed new life into her and the splendor she deserves.
