Villa Pauletta, a traditional stone house in the heart of Split’s Varoš district, was restored with a singular passion, to return its original glow. First mentioned in the city archives in 1831, the building served as a wine cellar before being converted into a residence in the early 19th century.
Driven by a desire to preserve the authentic spirit of old Split, our family spent six years, from 2012 to 2018 meticulously refurbishing the property. Most of the work was hand-crafted by us, following our family’s traditions and strictly adhering to the Ministry of Culture’s guidelines for historical preservation. Upon completion, we named the villa after our daughter, Paula. The name Pauletta, rooted in Latin, means ‘Little Paula,’ a fitting tribute to the home we built with love

Villa Pauletta is a private, detached oasis featuring a secluded courtyard and a unique cave pool. Ideally located, it is just a 500-meter stroll from the heart of the city and the world-renowned Diocletian’s Palace.
Our neighborhood, Varoš, is celebrated for its tranquility and historic charm. The villa is situated on the quiet Vijugasta ulica (Twisted Street), one of the narrow, scenic pathways leading to Marjan Hill. Just 500 meters from your door, the Marjan pine forest park offers a premier recreational escape. Rising 178 meters above the Adriatic, the hill provides breathtaking panoramic views of the city, the surrounding islands, and the mountains. It is a haven for jogging, tennis, and discovering hidden beaches.

Within the ancient walls of Diocletian’s Palace (a UNESCO World Heritage site), you will find a vibrant blend of the past and present. Dozens of bars, restaurants, and shops thrive amidst Roman monuments where local life has hummed for nearly two millennia. Don’t miss the Cathedral of Saint Domnius; consecrated at the turn of the 7th century, it is the oldest Catholic cathedral in the world still in its original structure.
